Bruce Banner himself, is a very unassuming man of healthy but not athletic build. There is no denying that he is the ultimate geek, although an oddly attractive one. He normally wears baggy, cassual clothing, of subdued color, as he wants very little to draw attention to himself. However, when provoked into anger, his form changes drastically. Upon transforming into the Hulk, he a massive, muscled behemoth of a monster, is bright green skin, dark green hair, and a temper that would frighten the most hardest of warriors. Oddly enough, although all his clothing is ripped by his transformation, his pants always seem to barely survive.

Bruce Banner himself is quiet, unassuming and withdrawn. He shows few emotions to the people around him, and often acts as if he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders alone. He is a genius, capable of understanding concepts and creating elaborate means to deal with unusual situations. However he does not flaunt his skills, and although he is not an ugly man, he feels as if he has very little to offer people, particularly the women he finds most attractive. Deep down however, Banner is a loving man, who's feelings for another person can be a truly wonderful thing. However, he has an explosive temper, that he has supposedly gotten from his father. The result of this can turn him from sweet to violent quite easily. And of course, that temper unleashes his alter-ego the Hulk, who's violent tendencies are shown to be horribly dangerous to the world at large. As the Hulk however, he is pure rage. He has relatively limited intelligence, and things in purely animalistic instinct. He addresses himself in the 3rd person, apparently unable to use terms like 'I' or 'me'. The Hulk loaths his Banner persona, judging him weak and inept. The Hulk believes he is the strongest being there is, and unfortunately, no one has yet been able to prove him wrong. Bruce is terrified of his Hulk form, to the point where he does his best to isolate himself from others. Unfortunately his fear does not control his volatile temper, which in turn unleashes the Hulk.
Goals: |
To control the monster that lies within the ability to coax some sort of emotion out from deep within Banner himself. Otherwise, all that there is left is chaotic destruction and rage. |

Advantages: |
COMBAT REFLEXES - The Hulk can react to threats almost instantly, meaning that he is very difficult to surprise and is extremely effective in close-range hand-to-hand combat HARD TO KILL - Simply put, the Hulk is incredibly difficult to kill. Even when you blow them to bits, he have an annoying habit of surviving... somehow. The Hulk has been nuked by the military and survived the experience. Banner has stuck a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. The Hulk spit out the bullet. QUICK LEARNER - Banner can learn the basics of a new scientific skill very quickly. Such skills can range from academics such as theories or psychology, to manual such a mechanics or medical skills. In some cases the learning of these skills can take minutes, hours or even learn entire fields in matters of weeks. His particular brand of genius is attuned to the scientific world.
Power(s): |
Superhuman Strength: The Hulk possesses the capacity for near-limitless physical strength. The gamma radiation that mutated the Hulk's body fortified his cellular structure and added, from some as yet unknown source (possibly via extradimensional mass acquisition), over 800 pounds of bone marrow and tissue to his body. The Hulk can lift about 90 tons. However, while in an enraged state, adrenaline surges through the Hulk's body, increasing his strength considerably beyond his base limits. The upper limit of his strength remains a mystery. Superhuman Stamina: The Hulk's body counteracts fatigue poisons that build up in his muscles during physical activity. In an enraged state, the Hulk is capable of exerting himself at peak capacity for several days before fatigue begins to affect him. However, much like his physical strength, the Hulk's stamina does increase as he becomes angrier. Superhuman Durability: In addition to great strength, the Hulk's body possesses a high degree of resistance to injury, pain, and disease. The Hulk's skin is capable of withstanding extreme heat without blistering, extreme cold without freezing, and great impacts. The Hulk has withstood the impact of a ground zero nuclear explosion and the full force of the the Human Torch's Nova Blast, which is said to have a maximum temperature of 1,000,000 degrees Fahrenheit, without sustaining injury. The Hulk's durability, like his strength, is fueled by rushes of adrenaline while angry. Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his high resistance to physical injury, it is possible to cause the Hulk injury. The Hulk is capable of regenerating damaged or destroyed areas of his body with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Wounds that would be deadly to most other heroes takes just a short time for the Hulk to recover. During a battle with Vector, he repelled all of the skin off of the Hulk leaving just exposed flesh and muscle. It took the Hulk minutes to regain the mass and be completely healed. During a battle with Speedfreak, he cut the Hulk's stomach open with adamantium blades. The Hulk had to hold his stomach to prevent his insides from spilling out. Within minutes the wound had healed, but unfortunately the skin had healed around part of the Hulk's fingers. He had to rip his fingers out of his stomach and allow it to heal again. Immunity to All Diseases: The Hulk is immune to all known Earth-based diseases. Superhuman Leaping Ability: The Hulk is able to use his highly developed leg muscles to leap great distances. While calm, he is capable of leaping roughly 3 miles. However, as he becomes enraged, his strength increases considerably, which means he can jump much farther than usual. On more than one occasion, the Hulk has nearly jumped into orbit. The Hulk has also been known to cover a distance of 1,000 miles with a single leap. Enhanced Lung Capacity: The size and strength of the Banner's lungs, like the rest of his body, are increased when he transforms into the Hulk. On a single good inhalation of air, Hulk can last hours--perhaps even days--without needing to take another one. This makes it possible for him to spend an extended period of time in outer space, or under the ocean. The Hulk has also used his lung capacity as an offensive weapon in several instances by inhaling, and then blowing the air back out at high speeds. Adaptation to Hostile Environments: There have been several instances in the past where Hulk has not only spent extended periods of time underwater or in oxygen-less outer space without suffocating, but he has also moved his mouth and spoken in these environments. It appears that the Hulk's body is able to adapt itself to new inhospitable environments when necessary. Like his healing factor, it is believed that this ability is also fueled by his rage and the madder the Hulk is, the quicker the Hulk's body will adapt. Underwater Breathing: The Hulk has been seen on the ocean floor a number of times and is able to breathe due to his body developing a gland which creates an oxygenated perfluorocarbon emulsion which fills his lungs and equalizes the pressure. He is therefore able to breathe fluid and avoid decompression and nitrogen narcosis. Transformation: Previously, this mutation was not a stable one. The Hulk would periodically revert to the human form of Bruce Banner, losing the extra mass and energy to the same as yet unknown source from which he derived it. The process by which Banner usually transforms into the Hulk presumably has a chemical catalyst, adrenalin (a.k.a. epinephrine). As in normal human beings, Banner's adrenal medulla secretes large amounts of adrenalin in time of fear, rage or stress, which hormonally stimulates the heart rate, raises blood-sugar levels and inhibits sensations of fatigue. Whereas the secretion heightens normal physical abilities in normal human beings, in Banner's case it triggers the complex chemical-extra-physical process that transforms him into the Hulk. The total transformation takes anywhere from seconds to 5 minutes, depending on the initial adrenalin surge, which is determined by the original stimulus. Soon after the transformation, the amount of adrenalin in the Hulk will return to more normal, reduced levels. However, there were instances in which Banner became the Hulk without any discernible increase in heart rate or adrenal levels, suggesting that the true trigger mechanism into the Hulk is far more psychological than physical.
Skill(s): |
COMPUTERS - The overall science of electronic intelligence. Banner can program, design, hack, build, or crack computer-run equipment, and control (to a certain extent) artificial intelligences ( +R to Int + Computers General, Hacking and Usage scores if possessed). Engineering: The discipline of acquiring and applying scientific and technical knowledge to the design, analysis, and/or construction of works for practical purposes. Banner understands the creative specifics of utilizing their understanding in a specific engineering field. ELECTRONICS - The science of electricity. Banner can analyze and build electronic devices, from as small as a vacuum tube to as large as a power plant. RADIOLOGY - The science of radiation. Banner understands the different kinds of radiation, including its careful handling and the dangers of its effects on humans. Banner is considered one of the leading experts in the world on this subject, if not the top man. GENETICS - The science of genes. Banner understands mutations, the effects of radiation on cellular matter, and even new life forms.
Disadvantages: |
LIMITED USE - Banner cannot access his vast intellect nor his scientific skills when he transforms into the Hulk. |

History
David Banner was a genetics researcher who experimented on himself, trying to improve human DNA. Once his wife gave birth to their son, he grew concerned about how his modified DNA might affect the newborn. Young Bruce was a withdrawn and closed child, rarely outwardly expressing emotion even in extreme cases, with patches of green skin that appear when he felt intense emotions. The elder Banner, under extreme guilt for his unintentional damage to his son, feverishly attempted to find a cure for the child's condition when the government, represented by Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, shut down his research after learning of his dangerous experiment. David Banner, in a fit of rage, causes a massive explosion of the facilities' gamma reactor. After the accidental death of his wife, David Banner was arrested and locked away in a mental hospital, while 4-year old Bruce was sent into foster care and adopted, taking on the last name of Krenzler, and believing both his biological parents to be deceased. During his life, the repressed memories of his parents, the explosion and his young life manifested themselves as intense nightmares that left Bruce shaken and disturbed but unable to conjure the memories.
20 years later, Bruce Banner became a brilliant researcher freshly graduated at the University of California, Berkeley. Bruce used nanomeds, activated by gamma radiation from a device called a Gammasphere (but actually operates differently to the genuine Gammasphere), to regenerate living tissue; the nanobot experiments resulted in out-of-control cellular growth and are invariably fatal to their test subjects. The military-industrial complex, represented by the unscrupulous Major Talbot, became interested in the research to build self-healing soldiers.
Meanwhile David Banner having escaped from the mental institution began infiltrating his son's life, working as a janitor in the lab building. "Thunderbolt" Ross, now an army General, also began to investigate when he learns of Bruce's involvement in the research through Talbot. Ross, the estranged father of Bruce's ex-girlfriend and co-researcher Betty Ross, became concerned both for his daughter's safety around Banner, but also because Bruce was working in the same field as David Banner once did.
As Bruce, Betty and their other co-scientist, Harper, continued to work towards progress in their experiments, they experience an accident during a routine power-up when there was an overload of the nanobots with Harper stuck in the lab room. Bruce saved Harper and took the brunt of the gamma radiation himself. Afterwards, Bruce was rushed to a hospital for aid. Later in his hospital bed he explained to Betty that he's never felt better, which she could not fathom due to the fact that the nanomeds have killed everything else they've touched. The radiation it was later discovered intertwined with Bruce's already-altered DNA.
That night, his father confronted him, revealing their relationship and hinting at the mutation in his son. Using Bruce's DNA, he began experimentation on animals. Soon after, the building rage within him stemming from all of the stresses building up around him (his father, Betty, Talbot and the accident) activated his gamma-radiated DNA, which then triggered Bruce's first transformation into the Hulk. His father who witnessed him in his transformed state becomes shocked of what he had a hand in creating, but oddly enough this only deepened his obsession.
After the destruction at the lab, Banner was found unconscious and at home by Betty. Bruce barely remembered his transformation, a sensation similar to birth. Ross arrived soon after, suspicious, and opts to place Banner under house arrest as well as taking over Bruce and Betty's lab. Betty then went to confront David Banner for answers, but only succeeds in angering him when she revealed her father's involvement.
That night, David phones Bruce to inform him that he unleashed three mutant dogs to Betty's house. Enraged and attacked by Talbot (who believed Bruce deliberately cut him out of the loop by giving Ross control of the lab) Bruce transformed again and, after seriously injuring Talbot and his henchmen, managed to save Betty. The next morning, Bruce was tranquilized and taken to an enormous underground base in the desert. Betty convinced her father to allow her to attempt to help Bruce control his transformations, but Ross remained extremely skeptical, believing Bruce was "damned" to follow in his father's footsteps. In the meantime, David Banner broke into the lab and subjected himself to the nanomeds and the gammasphere, gaining the ability to meld with and absorb the properties of anything he could touch. Talbot, seeing an opportunity to profit from the Hulk's strength and regenerative capability, went over Ross' head and took over custody of Bruce, sending Betty away. When his attacks and taunting of Bruce failed, Talbot put him in a sensory deprivation tank and induces a nightmare that triggered his repressed memories. David Banner confronted Betty and offered to turn himself in. In exchange, he asked to speak to Bruce "one last time." He also recounted to Betty his experience with his young son, revealing that he intended to kill Bruce after General Ross threw him off the project, believing his son's mutation would grow out of control. However, he accidentally killed his wife instead when she tried to defend her child. Remembering the entire event, Bruce finally transformed; killing Talbot (who fired an expolosive missile at the Hulk that ricochets off of his tough skin and backfired towards him) and escaped the base in the process. He battled the army in the desert, defeating 4 tanks and two Comanche Helicopters, and leapt all the way to San Francisco to find Betty again. Betty contacted her father and convinced him to take her to meet the Hulk, believing that he needs "a chance to calm down." Bruce's love for her came through, and he transformed back into his human state.
At night, David was taken to a base to talk to Bruce. As a precaution, Ross placed Banner between two large electrical generators which would kill them both with a massive electical surge when activated. David, having descended into megalomania, ranted of how the military and their weapons have ruined their lives, and dismissed Bruce as a pathetic shell of his "true son," with whom he can destroy the military. He then bit into a wire, and absorbed the electricity to become a powerful electrical being, and Bruce transformed to battle him. The two fought in the sky before landing near a lake, where David took on properties of rocks and water. He tried to absorb his son's power, but was unable to contain the grief and pain that was its driving force, and swells to an energy bubble. Ross orders a weapon (a Gamma Charge Bomb) to be fired into the lake, and David's swelled form was destroyed, leaving no trace of either man.
Banner, now assumed dead, escaped to South America where he hoped to control his Hulk half. Unfortunately, the US government persued him there in the hopes of controlling him and finding out how he did what he did. In order to defeat the Hulk, the government has Emil Blonsky undergo the same experiment Banner did, thus leading to the creation of the Abomination. Despite his past dealings with the government, Banner agreed to help defeat the now insane monster, using the Hulk. Unfortunately, the events of this battle allowed for the Hulk to gain a stronger hold in Banner's mind. Since then, Nick Fury and Tony Stark have been following the progression of the Hulk, who they have deemed might be useful for the S.H.I.E.L.D.s Avengers' Initiative.
